Tom has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of Cancer of the blood. He is undergoing chemotherapy now, and will be receiving a bone marrow transplant sometime in November/December/January (will clarify once we know). Instead of using donor cells, they will be harvesting Tom's own stem cells, which has been found to have excellent results. As of this moment, Tom continues to work 3-4 days per week. But when it comes time for the transplant, he will be hospitalized for about 3 weeks, then recover at home for an additional 6 weeks (or longer, depending on his rate of recovery).
I am starting this site to update people, and to coordinate for help once the transplant happens. (Not that help wouldn't be welcome before that time, but that's going to be the hardest time). I will update the site as I have more information and/or things change.
