Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Tom is currently in the ICU at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He has been diagnosed with Septic Shock with the blood infection being MRSA, They have him heavily sedated due to him being on many machines, one being a ECMO machine which drains the blood, adds oxygen and removes the carbon dioxide and returns the blood bypassing the heart and lungs, allowing them to get rest/heal. He is also on kidney diagnosis. We have been stable for a few hours now, which we were told is a good thing. Thank you for your concerns and we will try to keep this updated as we learn more.
