Tom received a call from his cardiologist on Friday, June 2nd after facilitating a comparative review of his previous cardiac imaging studies and asked that Tom have a repeat cardiac cath this Wednesday for reassessment and potential revisions to his present treatment plan. At the conclusion of the exam on Wednesday, Dr. G (Tom's cardiologist) felt that it is in Tom's best interest to have open heart/bypass surgery to "restore his energy and enable Tom to live more wholeheartedly".  Tom was hoping to wait til after his birthday on June 20th to elect to have the surgery however the cardiac surgeon feels it is wise to act promptly and with deep care for Tom's well being - body, mind and spirit. Tom is scheduled for open heart surgery on Monday, June 12th at 8am at Bon Secours St. Francis Health System in downtown Greenville.  During this tender time, we are ever so grateful for the gift of our faith and the loving support from countless friends and family. We welcome your prayerful support and wishes filled with hope and healing as we move through this new threshold in our life together.  I will do my best to keep you posted as Tom's plan of care unfolds.
