Todd Dehus

So where do I begin? The love of my life has been diagnosed with esophageal  adnocarcinoma. It started with a cough this summer--nothing so abnormal that was concern for a doctors visit. Then a few bouts of heartburn/indigestion. Again, just figured it was age, spicy foods, and eating late at night with our busy schedule.  Then the last few months it slowly began that Todd had difficulty with his food a while after eating. So  a doctors visit sent him to tests for gall bladder,  and a scope for a hiaetal  hernia.  Scope found a lump in his lower esophagus and spots in his upper stomach--biopsy showed cancer. Additional tests found multiple lesions on his liver--not yet diagnosed as cancer. 


Friday is Todd's pet scan and our plan of attack.  Chemo and radiation then surgery to remove part of his stomach and esophagus. Feeding tube and weeks  of healing afterwards. 


For now, it's eat well, plenty of protein, and  ensure supplements to build up as much strength as possible for the journey ahead. 


Our Lord and Savior has a reason for putting us through this trial. We depend on Him for our strength and comfort. We  thank Him for family, church family, our pastor and his wife,  friends, and co-workers for all the prayers, calls, cards, texts, emails, hugs, and tears you all have shared in the short time we have learned of this challenge.   God is our rock, and we will continue to love and worship Him as he carries us through this.
