William "Liam" Neighbors Tiny Warrior

First post: Jul 14, 2017 Latest post: Jul 26, 2018
As many of you know, when I was 18  weeks pregnant  I went in for a routine scan with the high risk doctor (since my other child Finn was born at 33weeks). During the scan she detected a defect in the baby's heart. My whole world came crashing down, thinking only the worst. I was then referred to one of the best hospitals in the country which turned my world back around and gave me hope. U of M diagnosed our baby boy with Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, or "HRHS". It is a very rare congenital heart defect involving the right ventricle of the heart making it either very small or not present.  Learning about this defect and researching has been both positive and negative. Majority of outcomes are very positive. Our baby will require 3 open heart surgeries with his first being around 2-7 days after birth. Second being 4-6months old and third being around 2-3 years old.  We have met with the surgeon who will be doing our baby's heart surgeries, and could not be more blessed to have one of the BEST in the country!.  We know that we are in for a very long journey with some bumpy roads ahead but we are ready and prepared for this. Once baby is born  we will update everything via this site and keep updates regular regarding baby's condition. We want everyone to continue to pray for our little heart warrior and are thankful for our friends and family who have been our rock during this difficult time.  Stayed tuned: DUE DATE  is JULY 14th. -Kyle and Brittaney
