Dear friends and family of Tina Holt,

Saturday and Sunday 2/5/2019 Welcome to Tina Holt's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers support and words of hope and encouragement.   We will update when there is any significant news to share.  Here is what has happened.  On Saturday Tina went for her normal 5 mile walk.  Rick went for his normal walk with Duke.  Rick saw mom at the church walking.  When she came up the path she said she had lost her glasses.  They retraced her steps up 244th street and found them on the side of the road.  She continued on her own (told us later) and then felt dizzy so went straight home.  In the afternoon Diane went downstairs for some papers and found Tina with a severe headache and nausea.  She had a bump on the back of her head but no other signs  of a fall.  Diane gave her ice and the bump went down within two ice packs.  She did not want to go to doctor and had no memory of a fall.  Diane saw pupils were small and gave her the normal concussion questions which she answered all.  Diane said  "If you can't tell me the president's name you are going in," she said "Who can forget Trump?"   So we put her to bed, checked on her twice in the night.  She threw up in the morning so we took her to the hospital.  The Cat Scan  showed she had bleeding in the front of her head.  The bump had been in the back but they explained that is normal as the brain shifts when hit and this can happen and is normal.  She was transferred to St. Joseph Hospital  in Tacoma to be in a hospital with a neurosurgeon.   She got fluids and anti-nausea meds and felt much better!  The night cat scan showed not more bleeding --good news meaning it had stopped.  All was looking very positive and they even thought she would be going home the next day if Cat Scan stayed the same.

Monday 2/42019
Unfortunately the nausea came back overnight and she had a rough night.  The morning scan showed no more bleeding (good news) but they found a fracture on the back of her skull.  This has added more confusion to what happened.  Hard to believe she had a hit to the head and no other signs of a fall (no bruising, scratched hands, no other marks on her anywhere).   They also said there is bleeding deep inside her brain but has not changed from first scans to now.   They have just started new nausea meds and we are hoping to return to the way she was yesterday.  Please pray the nausea stops, so she can heal.  She is able to talk, move and shows no signs of a stroke or any mental impairment--Praise God!  It will take many days, if not weeks to heal the brain so this will be a while.. Diane will keep updates here each day until she is able to be home and talk to people.  She is in ICU and not able to host visitors or take calls.  She will read posts here when she is up so feel free to write your messages on this site.  We appreciate all of you--feel free to share this sight with anyone you know loves her.
