Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place as it is hard to reply too all of the individual texts and emails. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. As many of you know, Tim has battled cancer since 1991 when he was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. With a lot of radiation, it went into remission and after 5 years clean, he was told he was cured. All was well until 2007 when he was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkins lymphoma. After 4 months of chemotherapy, that was in complete remission and at the 5 year mark, he was told he had less than a 2% chance of ever having a recurrence. As Tim likes to defy all odds, after nine and a half years of being clear of any signs of cancer, he has again been diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkins lymphoma and is battling again. More recent research suggests that all 3 of his bouts with cancer are related. The current plan is for Tim to receive 4 rounds of intense chemotherapy here locally in an attempt to again get the cancer into Remission and then undergo an autologous stem cell transplant at the UVA Cancer Center this summer. He has an amazing oncologist here locally, Burton Alexander, MD at Virginia Oncology Associates, as well as a brilliant team up at UVA. Your prayers and thoughts are all appeeciated.
