In March, Tim had testing done which included blood work, an MRI and a CT scan. The results indicated masses on both kidneys. The left kidney's mass was a bit larger than the right but both were small. The problem is that the mass on the left is in the center of the kidney and not easily accessible. After consulting with a specialist in Iowa City, it was determined that an open Heminephrectomy would be the only way to remove the mass and then send it to pathology for testing. The mass on the right kidney is small and on the outside of the kidney and can wait to be treated.
