After several days of not feeling well, Tim was admitted to hospital Wednesday night. He is septic with Staphylococcus aureus. Treating "with haste" as described by the doctor. IV antibiotics. He will require minimum 4 weeks of IV antibiotics upon release.

The source of the infection is a foot ulcer. It will require surgery next week. To what extent we don't know right now. A podiatrist that specializes in wound care will be consulting. Infectious disease (ID) doctor said that Tim is "perilously close" to a below the knee amputation.

Heart tests are being done to determine extent of muscle tissue damage. Also checking to make sure the valves are not compromised.

Another concern is with all of hardware that is in his body from broken neck, back, wrists, etc... I'D doctor said they often harbor staph bacteria.

Much to be concerned about. ID Doctor characterized Tim'ssituation as seriously ill but not critical yet. I asked why he said yet. Doctor explained that his condition can change very quickly. Tim's altered mental state right now is very concerning.
