About 7 years ago Tim was diagnosed with MDS, a bone marrow failure disease . He has been on a monthly chemo regimen for the last 5 years. This treatment had good results and he was living a good quality of life. Unfortunately, this treatment is no longer working for him. He now needs to find a donor and undergo a bone marrow transplant. We are hopeful that a match will be found quickly. Once a donor is found, the next steps will be very hard on him. He will be admitted into the hospital where he will undergo heavy doses of chemotherapy to kill of his diseased bone marrow. This will leave him with no working immune system. Once that happens he will get the bone marrow transplant. After the transplant he will need to stay in isolation for 30 days in the hospital to prevent any infections and to monitor for rejections of the transplant. Then he will be released to go home and be in isolation for at least 100 days. Because of this, both Tim and his wife, Susan, will not be able to continue working. Please continue to come back to this page for updates on him finding a donor , how he is feeling, and how you can help.
