We had expected to start Tim’s stem cell transplant in early December, however have run into issues which have delayed it.

Several weeks ago he had a port put in for the transplant and also had a stomach biopsy. Within a week he developed horrendous bruising and internal bleeding (turns out caused by reaction to cancer drugs. He was admitted to Crouse Hospital , was stabilized and spent 5 days there.

4 days later he developed an infection and is currently back in Crouse. What a month!

Once infection cleared we hope  get going on with transplant. We have a donor(perfect match). The transplant is a long process. A week of intense chemo to kill his blood, marrow etc. then donor blood transfused. Probably 4 to  6 weeks in hospital, then outpatient care for up to year. Aiming now to start 2nd week of January.

We have been overwhelmed with best wishes and the greatest friends ever checking in. With all ahead it will be overwhelming to address texts, so we ask that you restrain from texting and check in on Caring Bridge.  We will try to update weekly.

You can also send emails to Tim (teppolit@gmail.com (mailto:teppolit@gmail.com)) or Brenda (beppolito0116@gmail.com (mailto:beppolito0116@gmail.com)). No guarantee for quick response!

Feel free to pass this on, and Merry Christmas to all.
