Journal entry by Connie Geiger — May 15, 2022

On Friday, May 13, Tim and Doreen were on vacation in Spokane, Washington, with Doreen's brother Ken Geiger and me, his wife Connie. We had already been in Spokane for four days visiting Doreen and Ken's cousins Father Ty Schaff and Sister Loretta Schaff. That morning, we were getting ready to leave for Tacoma to visit more Geiger and Schaaf relatives. We were just sitting down for a quick breakfast, waiting for Tim to join us. When Doreen went to check on him, she found him on the floor in the bedroom. We immediately knew something was not right, so we called 911.

EMT care was there within minutes. They took Tim by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center, and Doreen was able to go with him in the ambulance. Ken and I stayed behind to finish closing up our Airbnb, and by the time we got to the ER, Tim was already in surgery. They had determined he was having a stroke, with a blood clot on the right side of his brain, which they were successfully able to remove. Within an hour, the doctor visited with us and was very optimistic on the success of the surgery, but said the next 48 hours were crucial as to whether there would be any complications. We all spent the day at the hospital getting constant updates from the nurses while we sat and prayed for his recovery.

Doreen was able to see Tim in the ICU around 4:00pm, when he came out of his anesthesia. The nurses informed us he had no feeling on the entire left side of his body. They would not know the extent of the damage until the next 24 hours had lapsed.

The care at this hospital has been nothing but exceptional, caring, and compassionate. We thank you all for the prayers, concerns, and messages of support. We ask for your continued prayers for Tim & his family.
