In February, doctors at University of VA found a tumor about the size of the 8oz soda can in my left lower back when they did a CT scan for my upset tummy. After additional imaging we felt confident that it was NOT cancer, but the tumor has been causing lots of pain! It is growing inside of the L4 and L5 nerves of my lower spine. We decided that this tumor had to go! My doctor at UVA recommended a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic. In July, I met Dr. Spinner I'm Minnesota and he decided to do a biopsy. We learned that the tumor is a neurofibroma and developed a plan for surgery on August 17th.
