Tom had back surgery in March.  He was feeling so much better and looking forward to spending some time in Wisconsin with his brother and sister and reconnecting with friends.  His wife Mary and his sister-in-law Pattie were joining Tom in Wisconsin Sept 1 for the start of the Badgers football season in Green Bay.  Tom enjoyed several rounds of golf and some great weather compared to the hot sticky Florida summer.  He was not feeling the best and went  to the ER in Hillsboro  the last week of August,  and a few days later his wife took him to the ER in Appleton.  He got some relief and the concern was it was connected to his chronic back problems.  The plan was to follow up with the primary physician when back home.  Tom and Mary were unable to be in Green Bay when Wisconsin defeated LSU but enjoyed the game on TV.  Once back home Tom was not feeling well enough to attend the Jacksonville Green Bay game.  On September 13 he went to the ER in New Port Richey due to back and abdominal pain and tests were done.  Tom was diagnosed with cancer that was pretty advanced and had spread from his lungs to his stomach, back, and brain.
