Thomas is a smart and energetic 4 year old boy who loves Cars and Lightning McQueen, ninja turtles, super heroes and everything else little boys enjoy. We took him to the clinic after he had a high fever that wouldn't go away and was complaining of stomach pain. Many X-rays, CT scans, and blood work later we were told that he has a very large, malignant tumor on his left kidney. This type of tumor is called a Wilms' tumor and is the most common type of kidney cancer in children. Most children who are diagnosed with this are 3 or 4 years old. In the foreseeable future Thomas will have to undergo a biopsy to determine the exact type of Wilms' tumor it is and will begin chemotherapy in order to shrink the mass down to a manageable size for his surgeons to remove comfortably. Please keep Thomas in your thoughts and prayers as he is going to have a very long road ahead of him. As his mother, he is the best little boy I could have asked for and want nothing more for him to be healthy and happy again.
