On February 27th IMPD Officer Thomas “Tommy” Mangan was seriously wounded by a man after a traffic stop in Fountain Square. Mangan, who was in field training at the time, was shot in the throat and suffered significant damage. Tommy was hospitalized from 02/27 - 03/11. During this admission he underwent two reconstructive surgeries of his larynx and thyroid cartilage. There is still uncertainty whether Tommy will be able to talk, swallow, and breath normally again. The road to recovery will be long. This page is to serve as a platform for updates for family, friends, new friends, and even strangers (who the Mangans hope to meet someday!) who have supported and prayed for them during this journey.
While the Mangans in no way are seeking donations, many people have asked how they can help during this time and The Central Indiana Police Foundation offered to set up a way to support the Mangans through monetary donations. Only if you feel led to do so you can donate at this link: click here (

The Mangans are overwhelmed with gratitude by the love and support they have received from you all. God has blessed them beyond measure through their communities, including you, thank you all.
*Emory has chosen to include prior updates that previously went to family to share the journey from the start with you all. Emory primarily will add updates in the future.
