I am a fine artist who has had the good fortune to move to Taos, New Mexico from New York 28 years ago and have never looked back.

In early fall of 2015 I was diagnosed with an unusual aggressive lymphoma. I resigned from my longterm career at Lambert’s Restaurant for immediate chemotherapy in Albuquerque. With lots of positive energy and so much support from family and friends, I was declared cancer free in January, 2016. I had a successful year of recuperation and returned to my studio, joined a drawing class, and worked in a furniture showroom.

A wrinkle in all of this good recovery came about last month when a PT scan revealed that the lymphoma had returned and to save my life I would be a candidate for stem cell transplant at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center, Albuquerque, under the oncology care of Dr. Matthew L. Fero. This procedure and treatment requires that I relocate to Albuquerque for an extended period of time. When I am not hospitalized, I will need lodging close to the hospital (for follow-up, treatment and monitoring) for myself and my caregivers.  I've set up a GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/tomintaos).  I'm not connected to Facebook; if you are, please spread the word to your Facebook friends.  I am deeply grateful for any and all support.

I have always been a happy person in my soul and I believe that this illness cannot touch my soul.

Peace and love and gratitude to everyone.
