Thank you for visiting our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. All the support and words of hope and encouragement we received meant the world to us. Scroll through the journal entries about my health journey as well as some reflections on life; most of the entries are mine, but Abbie carried on during the surgery. If you want to read the story in chronological order, go to the last one in the thread and work backward. I recommend reading some of the comments, especially the recommendations and thoughts about where to walk and hike. The support and love were so affirming.

Starting in the late winter of 2018, I had balance issues the cause of which were not easily identified. On Tuesday August 7 I had an MRI of my brain and a large mass was found (specifically a central neurocytoma). I had no pain and no disability. The ER doctor in Owosso, Bryan Christie, in consultation with an on-call neurosurgeon determined that the situation was not immediately life-threatening, but directed me to the University of Michigan hospital for quick action. I had surgery on August 21.
