Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Our lives completely changed as of April 21, 2022 when Cairo and I were sent to the ED of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for him to receive blood work due to major changes that were seen from January to April that begin to cause concern for myself as well as the doctor who had been seeing him.

We all initially thought it was grief due to the loss of his Father 11/21 and begin treating the different symptoms that begin appearing in the new year that continue into the early spring. He continued to fight daily going to school and activities as best as possible even in pain some days, he was fighting Cancer before we even knew it was present!

After complaining about his Lymph Nodes, lower head and neck pain I thought it was best to contact his clinic for a sick visit. Through that sick visit the doctor who had been seeing him since the beginning of 2022 sent us to the Emergency department immediately for #Blood work on April 21, 2022.

We never left, were admitted and would find out a few hours later that Cairo had cancer. He had Emergency surgery that morning which gave us his diagnosis of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma almost a week later on April 27, 2022,  it was categorized as Stage4 and determined that his treatment needed to begin immediately.

He is currently doing multiple rounds of Chemotherapy, multiple surgeries/procedures, continously doing inpatient and outpatient care as well as  7 straight weeks of Radiation currently taking place.

Watching Cairo's light shine so bright even in some of the darkest times of this journey has given me a strength I've never experienced as a Mother. Watching my other children Britten his older brother and Milan his little sister do their best to be strong as well as supportive is part of what keeps us solution based and trying to fight fear!

Cairo is a mature, loving, intelligent, helpful and super witty 12 year old who loves to cook! He has a smile that has brightened the darkest of days, he's also an outdoorsman who goes away to camp annually and looks forward to connecting with nature/water any chance he gets. Since our Journey begin in April he has touched so many hearts in and beyond this process, they call him the Major of Oncology. He loves to help smaller children when in need and loves babies! He is a #MasterBuilder with Legos, loves using his hands and really really enjoys basketball. He is a beautiful light that shines on so many!
