Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you

In  December my mother noticed a red patch of skin on her right breast. She visited her gynecologist and he felt it was mastitis. She was put on antibiotics which did not clear it up.  He ordered a 3d mammogram which came back normal and she started stronger antibiotics.  A surgeon, Dr. Biteman, was consulted and he felt she needed a biopsy.  We went for biopsy results on January 17th and she was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. ( IBC) He had already sent the results for a second opinion to confirm since this is a rare and very aggressive cancer.
Her first chemo treatment was today. She will have chemo every 2 weeks for 16 weeks. A break for approximately a month and then a mastectomy followed by another break of a month. Radiation will begin once she has healed from the mastectomy.
The support from family and friends has been overwhelming.  I am not sure she will be able to keep up with the amount of phone calls, texts and messages she is receiving.  She is so loved ❤ We will use this site to keep everyone informed as we begin this journey.  She will be able to read your messages on here and I know they will inspire and comfort her as she battles this cancer.
