Today is one of those days that changes your life. You really don't get it until it's happening to you.
Our 14yo son had difficulty breathing. We thought it was bronchitis again. They did a chest x-ray. There was a mass. They did a CT. Definitely a mass. We transferred. We saw an oncologist. They kept saying lymphoma. I finally just asked, "is it really cancer?" "Yes, we're using the big C word." I told my son we have to keep saying cancer so we can acknowledge it, to not be afraid of the word. We can be afraid of this journey, but not a word.
It happened in a matter of months. He had a clean chest a few months ago (bronchitis). My son said fuck cancer. And that's the plan.
