Welcome!

Sophia, now twenty years old,  was a nineteen year old smart, beautiful and talented young woman. She was in college studying through the honors program, a member on the swim team, assisting professors in classes, volunteering and even found time to work in an orthodontic office to learn more about her dream job.

At the beginning of the spring semester Sophia had not been swimming due to health issues, suffered from insomnia, found herself extremely tired, and forgetful. A routine blood evaluation revealed low numbers of red and white blood cells, hemoglobin and platelets. A bone marrow biopsy revealed Aplastic Anemia, a rare disease of bone marrow failure, and the next thing Sophia knew she was withdrawing from college, riding in a wheelchair and weekly blood draws. Sophia was scheduled for a bone marrow transplant, but it was cancelled. Follow her journey here!
