Aimee Johnston Thanks for the mammaries!

First post: Mar 24, 2017 Latest post: Sep 22, 2017

As many of us know, cancer is an indiscriminate disease. And as dangerous as cancer can be, we can all agree it has met its match. Aimee Johnston has cancer again. That’s right, people. Even cancer can’t get enough of her! As much as I jest, I do know that this cancer has returned to the one person who can and will beat it.

I assume that if you are on this page, you are one of the lucky many who know and love Aimee.

Aimee has Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, which is the most common kind of Breast Cancer. This being her 2nd Breast Cancer diagnosis, Aimee and the Doctors at Beth Israel have decided that a Full Bilateral Mastectomy is the best course of action. Aimee is scheduled for surgery on Monday, March 27, 2017. Thankfully, living in the Boston area, Aimee is receiving the best cancer treatments in the country. After her surgery, and month-long recovery, she will once again endure chemotherapy.

As previously stated, this is Aimee’s second bout with Breast Cancer. For the privileged many who know Aimee, this is a sudden and painful blow. Having just passed the critical five year mark, this new diagnosis caught us, and even Aimee’s doctors, by surprise. It’s difficult for someone as humble as Aimee to ask for help, but this time, she's going to need it.

One of Aimee’s greatest assets is her endless group of loving, devoted friends. Many of you have reached out with concern and offers of help, but are unsure of how to keep updated or what Aimee might need. That’s where this page comes in. Here, we can post updates about Aimee's surgery and treatments as well as requests for rides, clothing, food, or a babysitter for our most precious life, Harriet.

This is our place to share Aimee’s journey to recovery with her loved ones, and for her friends to reach out in any way they can.

We are sincerely and truly grateful for your support. Just knowing that you are here for Aimee means more than we could ever tell you. Thank you.
