Kate and I received a call from Bianka yesterday morning that Tess had fallen in her bedroom and wasn’t able to get up. When we got to her house, she was laying on the floor, unable to speak or move. We called 911, and after their examination, took her but Ambulance to Presbyterian in Santa Fe. After giving her a CT scan, the physician told us that she had bleeding in her brain on the left side. He recommended that she be flown to Presbyterian in Albuquerque.

When Tess arrived at the ICU she was conscious and could follow brief commands. She was not able to speak or move her right side. Tess was scheduled for another CT and an MRI. The second CT was essentially unchanged from the one in the morning which suggested that the bleed had stopped. The location of the hemorrhage is on the left hemisphere in the white matter below the cortex and extended into the basal ganglia.

Bianka stayed with Tess to comfort her during the day and then returned to Santa Fe to take care of the pups for us.
