What an emotional - and  frightening - experience we have had since the morning of April 24th, when Terry was in a single motor vehicle accident. We've been in the ICU at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville  for 11 days now. Due to his severe head trauma (contusions, concussion, small bleeds and swelling), he was intubated and kept heavily sedated for the first days with intracranial pressure constantly monitored.  As they began to slowly wean him off sedation, every little occurrence- eyes opening ever-so-slightly, a "twitch" in a hand or arm- was cause for joy! He wasn't taken off sedation totally until after extubation on May 3rd. So now, thankfully, off the ventilator, we are beginning the next mile of our journey. Real assessments will begin now  - with therapies and rehab to follow.
We have received so many expressions of overwhelming love and support. It's truly comforting -and uplifting - to know that so many people care.
Terry will be elated - and feel so blessed - when he learns the magnitude of it all.
Please continue to pray for us and for Terry's complete recovery.
