Late Sunday afternoon, May 1, 2016, Terry was out for a bicycle ride on Conway Road in St. Louis County, MO. He was involved in a collision with an automobile. He was struck by the car and thrown from his bike. He was transported to Mercy Hospital's Trauma Center. He suffered life threatening injuries including fractures of his pelvis and femur. In addition he has a head injury, fractured vertebrae and multiple lacerations. Within three hours he was undergoing surgery to insert pins to allow the surgeons to use traction and external braces to reposition his pelvis and provide traction to his femur in order to stabilize them and control his bleeding. By the time he was stabilized, he had lost a third of his blood. The staff at Mercy showed skill, compassion and urgency in treating Terry that night.

One irony of this story is that Terry and Peggy had just returned from a week long bike trip in the California wine country during which he completed long rides each day. As an avid bicyclist, Terry was in great physical condition and had excellent general health. This carried him through the initial hours following the accident. Through the power of many prayers and God's grace, Terry has received great care and his body has begun the recovery process.  It will be a long road. Please pray for his continued recovery.
