On July 7th at 11:43 a.m. I received a phone call from nurse Vicki at the Northfield Breast Center, telling me that the biopsy I had done on my right breast  came back as Ductal Carcinoma In Situ, non-invasive.  "You have cancer."  I have followed so many Caring Bridge sites over the years and never thought I'd be creating my own some day.  Here we go...

June 22 - annual mammogram
June 30 - call back for 2nd mammogram, something suspicious on right breast
July 6 - biopsy of right breast at United Breast Center in St. Paul
July 7 - initial breast cancer diagnosis, DCIS, non-invasive
July 10 - meet with surgeon, Dr. Fulco
July 13 - MRI of breasts
July 17 - MRI results - 2 spots on left breast were found
July 25 - ultrasound with biopsy
July 26 - results from biopsy, both spots came back cancerous - invasive (no longer DCIS)
July 27 - meet with Dr. Fulco to discuss surgery options
July 31 - meet with plastic surgeon, Dr. Economou
August 3 - surgery (double mastectomy with reconstruction) scheduled for August 16
August 3 - genetic testing results - I am NOT a carrier of the BRCA1 & BRCA2 genes -YAY!
