Thank you all for stopping by to read up on mom. There is a lot that has been happening since July and even earlier and this will be an easy way to keep everyone up to speed on how she is doing and any updates there might be.

Mom hasn’t been feeling well honestly most of the summer and when she went in to the doctor end of July they quickly admitted her due to a very low oxygen level. They ran a bunch of different tests and discovered that she has COPD that caused her to have right sided heart failure with severe damage there. Those two things caused her to have Pulmonary Hypertension. After several days in the hospital she was able to go home on oxygen and after some time really was feeling so much better!

While she had been in the hospital they had also discovered a nodule on her lung and the doctor determined that it needed further testing so they set up a PET scan. The results indicated lung cancer so she would need a biopsy.

This past Wednesday she went in to have the biopsy done and her lung partially collapsed, which is not uncommon, so after a night of observation in the hospital they sent her home with instructions to not do a thing and she was supposed to come back in a week for a recheck. Well this past Saturday my parents had to call an ambulance because mom couldn’t breath. Once at the hospital they discovered that her lung had collapsed significantly more and had become life threatening.  They had to insert a chest tube, which was really really painful for mom, to help relieve the air pocket causing her lung to collapse.  We finally got word this morning that the chest tube is working and they were able to take the next step in getting it removed! They also got mom on some pain medicine that is giving her relief because having a chest tube is extremely painful!

We are still waiting on the biopsy results which will tell what type of cancer and what treatment is best. We are still praying that it comes back benign because she is so weak that chemo and even another surgery to remove more of her lung would be a lot for her to handle.

Please send her prayers and words of encouragement here on her Caring Bridge! She would love to read them! If you send her a personal message please don’t be offended if she doesn’t respond, as you can imagine she has a lot going on right now but please know she appreciates it so much! We will do our best to keep everyone updated when we hear more information or just how she is doing! Thank you all so much for your love and prayers!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
