Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
As you know I had breast cancer 4 1/2 years ago. I have been faithful in following up with my doctors since then. I have not been able to take any of the estrogen inhibitors because of the horrible side effects.

A few weeks ago I found a lump in my groin. I made an appointment with my family doctor who said it was a hernia. I didn't think that was correct so I called and made an appointment with Dr. Bates (a general surgeon) in Augusta per Dr. Cooper's (my surgeon)'s recommendation.
It was an enlarged lymph node that was visible on the CT scan I had in February when I had appendicitis. It wasn't pathological (it was a small size) at that time. It was larger now and I was scheduled for removal of that lymph node and a biopsy on Monday 11/28 at University Hospital at 12:30.

I received a phone call 12/5/16 from the surgeon, Dr. Bates. The lymph node came back positive for cancer. It is not the primary site of the cancer. So we need to find the primary site.
I spoke with my oncologist's (Dr. Mark Keaton) assistant today to let him know the results. He said the next thing should be a PET Scan. That is scheduled for Tuesday 12/13. I have a follow up with Dr. Keaton on Wednesday to get the results. These things always take longer than you would like.
Thank you all for the love and prayers. I am resting in His loving arms. Philippians 4:6-7 says: "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." As I have meditated on this verse this week my attention has gone from "do not be anxious" to "thanksgiving." I have so many things to be thankful for. We have so many things to be thankful for. God is absolutely in charge of all. I am thankful for His loving care.
Love to all!
