On May 13th, 2016 (just so happened to be Friday the 13th) I was scheduled for a routine mammogram. The following Monday that called and said that the radiologist needed to have a few more pictures of the left breast. On Friday May 20th I went in and had two more views, a 3D image and an ultrasound. While laying on the ultrasound table I already new........the tech was measuring and documenting, my mind went a thousand different directions. She said "I'm going to go show these to the radiologist and he will be come in and talk to you in a few moments. It was only a short time and I was listening to the his voice echo throughout the room...."Mrs. Baskett, we will need to send you for a biopsy. We have found a very suspicious nodule." He explained that he would send the report to my OB/GYN, Dr. Karen Puckett, and she would contact me. Well holy cow......I didn't even get out of the parking lot when she was calling me on my phone to set up the biopsy. The biopsy was May 31st, and we received the news on June 1st. I have breast cancer........and so our journey begins.
