My little sister ,Teresa, started her battle with cancer more than a year ago after her doctor found she had cervical cancer during a routine medical procedure. His recommendation was a radical hysterectomy. Unfortunately, her insurance company decided they didn't want to approve this necessary and life saving procedure as the cancer was not in her ovaries or fallopian tubes or uterus even though the doctor predicted it would spread to these areas if they were not removed. The Insurance company decided to gamble with my sisters life anyway in order to save a few dollars and just as the doctors predicted, it spread. The same doctor decided my sister's insurance wasn't good enough to make it worth his while to try and treat her, he didn't feel he could make enough money trying to prevent her from dying of cancer so he wrote her off and told her she had about a year to live. Can you imagine hearing the news that you have one year to live? She was devastated, and went home to tell her 4 children, ages 21, 16 and fraternal twin boys 10 (one of whom is autistic)that she would not be with them anymore,at this time the following year. Thank God her father in law decided he didn't want to lose this wonderful, caring , woman who had so radically changed his son's life for the better, Who had given him 4 grandchildren and whom he had come to love and think of as a daughter. He pulled some strings and got her in to see a doctor friend of his, who specializes in treating and curing cancer without regard to monetary gain! This doctor told my sister, since by now the cancer had spread to one of her kidneys, that worst-case scenario she would be living with one kidney but she didn't even think it was going to go that far! This is after being told she only had a year to live by one uncaring and greedy medical "professional" she was now being told that not only would she live longer than a year but that she was going to beat this cancer! She ended up having two thirds of one of her kidneys removed and as of right now is cancer free!!!! She is however having dialysis done three times every week until her remaining kidney and partial kidney can become strong enough to filter the toxins from her system . She has been fighting for what seems like a long time and a lot of days she is tired and worn down and discouraged but through this page I want her to know how many people love and support her and encourage her to continue fighting so she can be here to watch her sons grow up and watch her daughter get married and have children ! I love you Teresa Gardiner Davino!!! Hopefully through this page you will see how many other people do also !
