Our mother Teofila was born in December 1939. At the age of ten years old, instead of focusing on going to school, she started helping our grandma Ester with her work.  She comes from a big family (10 children,  and she's the 5th born). She's always been a hard worker and although she didn't finish high school, she's very artistic, bright and business minded. We are so proud to be her children.  She loved on her family,  and is always generous. She's mostly happy when she can provide for us. Our father Pepito left in 1980 to go to the States and  she was left with four children to raise.  It took 11 years before my mom joined him in the States. The story of my mom is one of an immigrant journey, wither her leaving in 1991 for the US to join my dad and my older sister, and from  1997-2001, the rest of her children joined and we were all finally together.  Her passion is cooking, and she was chief cook for 7 years in our family's restaurant business in Roselle.  We always say, mommy must be sick when she's not cooking.

I (Jean) am creating this Caring Bridge site to honor her, while she's still with us and continuing on her journey to Jesus.  We don't doubt she'll be in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus, where there is complete healing, no more pain, no more sorrows.
