Hello everyone! My name is Shayla. I am Stephanie's niece and I will be running this website to keep family and friends updated in one place during all of her treatment. For those of you that don't know, Stephanie was having trouble breathing out of her nose for quite some time, and it got to the point where she could no longer breathe out of her right nostril. She went to see a sinus doctor per her own request, and after ruling out a nasal polyp; CT scans, MRIs and a biopsy revealed that it was a large tumor in her nose that has been blocking her entire airway and growing upwards, pushing on her brain. Stephanie was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma of the paranasal sinuses. It's a very rare type of cancer (3%). She will be having surgery to remove the tumor (or as much of it as they can) on February 20th and then a few weeks after that she will begin radiation. I'm using this website so that all family and friends can stay updated here as Stephanie may not be able to respond to everyone while she's recovering. We are all a part of "Team Stephanie" and will be with her every step of the way as she kick's cancer's ass! We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
