Meredith is in many ways a typical teenaged girl. She loves music, hanging out with friends, and is ALWAYS on her phone 😊 She has an awesome, irreverent sense of humor, is a gifted musician and athlete, and she loves her twin sister and baby brother.
One way that Meredith, who goes by Meemee or Meem, is not typical is that she is dealing with a scary situation more often faced by women more than twice her age. Several months ago, she noticed a marked difference in size between her left and right breast. We chalked it up to the volatile hormones of a young woman as well as the normal difference in size between many women's breasts. In August of this year, she came to me her mom, complaining of soreness and stretched skin. When I checked her, her right breast was about four cup sizes larger than the left and had a huge hard lump that filled most of the breast.
