Hello! This is Fran's daughter Julie writing this story on behalf of my mom. We are using this CaringBridge site to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

As you know, Fran was recently diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer. This news has come as a shock to everyone - she has been so healthy and busy living her life to its fullest. The most active and young-looking 80-year-old on the planet, she is always on the go dancing, socializing, keeping up with her kids and grandkids, and spending time with her best friend and love, John.

For mom's 80th birthday, my brothers and I planned a trip to Dallas to spend Christmas with her, our sister, and the rest of our Texas family. We had no idea when we planned this trip that this would occur. We made it the best trip ever and even purchased the family pajamas that you see in the photo. As you can see, my mom looks fabulous in spite of this diagnosis and was mostly able to enjoy a wonderful holiday. She does get tired and eating is tricky at times.

On Monday, December 30, my mom had her first round of chemo. This is an aggressive cancer and the oncologist wanted her to get started right away. My sister Kelly, John, and I were with her for the treatment at the oncology center. Kelly and I stayed with her for a few nights since they send her home with a pump that delivers more chemo for 48 hours. All in all, she did extremely well for this first round. She will continue this regime every other week for six months. I will let her post more about this and how she is feeling, because that's something only she can do.

Mom has received so much love from family and friends and it is the greatest gift at this time. We will all try to keep you updated when there is news and, in the meantime, I know she would love to hear from each and every one of you when you can write. So stay in touch and know that all of us kids join her in appreciation for all of your love and support.
