Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We thank you & appreciate the support and words of hope & encouragement.

I will be reading Taylor all her well wishes from everyone so lets make it so much to read, so manY that  I lose my voice!
Don't forget to post pics and a story so I can read her memories to her.

As most all of you know, Taylor & 7 of her friend were hit head on by a drunk driver on 1/1/19.
Taylor suffered
*Severe Traumatic Brain Injury
 *traumatic hemmorrage of Left Cerebrum
*subdural hematomas too many to count all over the brain, as per Mayo),
*loss of consciousness for over 24hrs
* coma until day 9
* R knee broken patella & gnarly "S" shaped scar
*liver & spleen lacerations
*shattered zygomaxillary bones/orbital floor (cheek, eye socket and temporal bone)
*additional lacerations on the back of her head and ; her Right eyelid(now she has 4 plates in her face)
*contusion on her R lung
* acute reaptitory failure;
*acute posthemorragic anemia

Just in case that wasn't enough... incedentally a large midline Thalamic mass of unclear etiology was discovered.
It's unlclear what exactly we have been dealt until her brain heals, swelling is down & it's safe enough for a biopsy.

Needless

To

Say

It's feel like your Stuck in a F100 emotional tornado and it  Stays in you for an eternity. It's so big it's absolutely undescribable.

It's going to be a long road of recovery, many hurdles to jump & full of ups/downs. I will keep everyone as posted as I am able to, please be patient as progress is slow with TBI's. Taylor opened her eyes on day 9, she didn't wake up until roughly day 15, we still haven't heard her speak. We are keeping faith and appreciate all the encouragement, prayers & good vibes sent our way.

I have set up a new go fund me to help support travel expenses to/from Iowa for medical appts & to pay my bills as I’m unable to work while away with Taylor. I'm trying to spend as much precious time with Taylor & juggle that and being away from Allison & Bristol for long trips is difficult to say the least. Given our new reality and all these life flipping upside down decisions regarding the next chapters in our journey & where it will lead us we need all the support of any kind we can get!

Thank you all and I promise to update more while back in the Arctic Tundra with my little Hippie Girl Taylor!🙏💜✌️

Many Thanks, Peace & Love,
Amanda, Allison, Bristol & Family
