Hello Friends and Family, 


On May 4, 2017,  I was diagnosed with  Triple Negative IDC Breast Cancer.  I feel very lucky to have found the lump.  My friend, Jamie, shared that she  was going in for a mammogram. I checked myself later that evening.  Wow!  There it was, on the right side.  (You can tell the difference from everything else.)  No, not me!  No way!  I breast fed for a year and was on birth control for many  years.  I just couldn't believe it!  It took a couple of days to decide to call the doctor.  The next week turned into a blur of doctor appointments, a biopsy, ultra sounds, a 3D mammogram, MRI, blood work, and a visit to the oncologist! How do you wrap your head around all of that information?  I learned that in 2016, 1 in 8 women were diagnosed with breast cancer.  In 2013, it was 1 in 18 women.  What is going on?  Ladies, do your monthly home exams and go get your mammograms.  Don't wait!  Please!


The plan is 20 weeks of chemotherapy, followed by 4 weeks rest, then surgery.  Radiation and more chemo could potentially follow down the road.  My first treatment was Friday May 19th.  One down.  I will try to keep everyone posted as much as possible.  Just know that I believe I'm in very good hands and can beat this.  It's not going to be easy, but it can be done.  I can't thank you all enough for the love and support you've shown.  Thank you so much.
