Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In March I turned the big 50!  Kaiser sent me a gift in the form of a colorectal screening test.  I put if off for a few months as the process seemed complicated.  Turns out it wasn't at all and I finally sent it in.  The test came back positive for blood in my stool.  A colonoscopy was ordered and long story short, I have colon cancer.   I had a CT scan on Saturday to see if there was evidence of cancer in other organs.

Today, Septmber 5th, my parents and I met for a consultation with my surgeon.  It  went well. The CT scan showed a nodule on my lung. I'm having a PET scan Thursday and depending on the outcome I may need a  lung biopsy in the near future.  In the meantime, surgery to remove almost 1/2 of my colon and my appendix will be scheduled within the next 2 weeks (hopefully).   A lymph node near my colon will be biopsied at that time.  Then, based on the lung biopsy (if i need one) and/or colon biopsy, a stage will be determined and I will see an oncologist if necessary.

Thank you for your friendship, love and prayers!
