Talitha has had scoliosis since 2010. We have monitored and treated it in various ways, hoping to avoid the surgery I (her mom) had 30 years ago. Unfortunately in July when she had a growth spurt it all went into the curve. Her spine buckled and after meeting with several specialists it was determined that surgery was the only realistic path for correction. We also learned that her spinal cord is tethered to her spine lower than it should be, further aggravating the curvature. So on Thursday, March 2nd at 7:30 am Talitha will undergo a procedure to de-tether her spinal cord, followed by a spinal fusion procedure to correct the curves in her spine.

We are so amazed at the miracles of modern medicine as we learn more and more about how much this procedure has improved since I had it. We are grateful for Dr.s Kim and Beauchamp at Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul. They have been wonderful with Talitha and our family as we have worked through all the emotions and decisions this difficult journey has lain before us. God's hand is evident in each step. Though this isn't the path we would have chosen we believe God has a purpose and a plan in it all. Thank you for choosing to walk alongside Talitha and our family as we await the healing He will provide her.

Blessings,

Liz
