Taisley Tetrault Taisley's Leukemia Battle

On Friday, February 10, 2018 Monique and Thane took TyLee, Taisley and Tristi Vi to Phoenix, AZ to celebrate their Christmas gift, a family vacation. On Saturday, Taisley wasn't feeling quite right and complained of leg pain and began running a temperature. Monique took Taisley to Urgent Care and after blood tests she was sent to Phoenix Children's Hospital where she was diagnosed with leukemia early Sunday morning. She has ALL, Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Immediately the treatment began. She had a blood transfusion on Sunday and two surgeries the following day to place a port and do a lumbar puncture. The next morning she had her first chemo treatment. Thankfully the cerebral spinal fluid is clear. Taisley has a barrage of tests and medications on an almost constant basis. On Thursday we received an answer to prayer when Taisley's doctor gave the results of Taisley's leukemia genetic marker which indicates that her markers are very good for a cure.  The treatment duration for ALL its two and a half years if everything goes perfectly. Every day is a new challenge and also a day with many blessings. Taisley along with Monique and Thane are scheduled to fly to Denver, CO where she will continue with her treatment. The staff at Phoenix Children's Hospital has been wonderful in caring for Taisley and helping facilitate this move. An incredible family offered immediately to transport Taisley to Denver in their private aircraft. Words are inadequate to thank our amazing friends for this incredible gift of love and caring. As of tonight, everything is a go to get Taisley to Denver where she will be so much closer to home and where she has an uncle, aunt and cousins who will play a big role in keeping her spirits up. This indeed has turned our world upside down. TyLee and Tristi Vi returned home on Tuesday with Mama Jo. This separation is very hard for little sisters who are each other's best friends. TyLee and Taisley share a bedroom so they are the first pal they see in the morning and the last pal  they say good night to. Please pray for these little girls who are too young to comprehend all that is happening. There has been an unimaginable outpouring of love, kindness and compassion from family, our faith community, friends, friends of friends and complete strangers. Just knowing that there are countless prayers being offered for our precious  Taisley and our families has given us such strength and filled our hearts to overflowing with gratitude. For those of you who don't know Taisley personally, we want you to know Taisley as the delightful little girl she is. Taisley has leukemia but that's not who she is. Taisley is a loving, kind hearted, funny, smart, adorable, tough as nails five year old. She is in preK, she is a dancer, she loves to go to GOF at church, she has farm animals and a new puppy. She is a much beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, student. She is sometimes shy and doesn't like to draw attention to herself. She has a smile that lights up the room, wonderful manners, she is responsible and a baby whisperer to her little sister and cousins. Since she was just an infant Tristi has been so happy to lie down cuddled by Taisley when it's naptime. This is ourTaisley. This is the darling little girl that you are reading about, caring about, praying for. As we fight this battle, we praise God that HE is by our side every step of the way and that you too are giving us strength and grace along the way.
