Sylvia was born with Tracheoesophageal Fistula (TEF) and Esophageal Atresia, a condition in which the esophagus is disconnected from the stomach and her stomach connected to her trachea. Her TEF was unknown prior to birth and was discovered within the first hour of her life as she was struggling to breathe. Sylvia underwent surgery at 1.5 days old and it went perfectly! We do not expect another surgery at this time. She will remain in the NICU a minimum of two weeks as she recovers, undergoes a few more tests, and learns to eat without a feeding tube. Thank you all for your prayers and support for Sylvia and her recovery!
