Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Grandma/Mom/Sylvia has had some big changes in her life lately.  On March 9th she went to the doctor because she had been having some trouble keeping food down.  The next day she was informed that she needed to go to the emergency room to receive blood transfusions due to severe anemia.  She was admitted and remained in the hospital for a week (during the blizzard) where she received good care and visits from friends and family who stayed with her.  During that time she evidently had a stroke, apparent from the symptoms afterward, although it was not immediately identified as such.  Grandma lost strength and the use of her right arm and her processing time for answering questions slowed.  She seemed to be slipping away from us, and her right leg also remained perpetually kinked in a bent position.  It became obvious that she would not be able to return to her previous situation of living independently in her own apartment in her wheelchair, so preparations were made to find an appropriate place for her to go.  The daughters made quick work of the application process and we were all very grateful when a bed at the Kendal facility opened up in answer to our prayers.

The rest of this site will provide updates on Grandma's health as well as other important info.  Thanks for visiting!
