Thank you for the outpouring of support for Sydney and her family during this time. Sydney was hospitalized just before Christmas with a staph infection in her spine. The infection put pressure on her spinal cord, resulting in loss of feeling and mobility in her legs. A couple of surgeries were required to clear the infection. Sydney is now moving into intensive physical therapy to regain mobility. She and her family will be relocating to an inpatient facility in Atlanta as the first step in this process. If you would like to help support Sydney and her family through this time, funds are currently going towards hotel lodging and food expenses so that her parents can be with her during therapy, as well as to help make sure that her brother is taken care of at home in Mt Pleasant.

Julia Tucker is a close family friend and trusted co-worker of the Fowlers. She is also strongly connected to the volleyball community in Charleston, and her daughters went to Sydney's current school, Laing Middle.
