Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. In the summer of 2010, at the age of 38, Travis was diagnosed with the cerebral form of a very rare disease called Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). The doctors said that without getting a stem cell transplant, the disease would most likely take his life within 5 to 10 years. So in July of 2011, Travis received a transplant to stop the progression of the disease. Now, at the age of 44, he is faring well from the procedure. Although the effects of ALD have taken their toll, and he is currently almost 80% blind, he is noticing some improvement in his eyesight, of which the doctors stand in awe! He also struggles with difficulty walking and other neurological difficulties.
