Suzette has had a small place on her tongue that wouldn't heal. The E.N.T. Treated it and sent her to the orthodontist as it appeared that a gap in the teeth could be causing continued irritation. The orthodontist treated it to no avail and sent her to an oral surgeon who looked at it and ordered a biopsy. On 20 Jan. 2017, the biopsy results showed that it is a cancerous tumor. The oral surgeon had already scheduled an appointment at UAB for Monday, 23 Jan 2017. We showed up at The Kirklin Clinic for the appointment with Dr. Morelandt and she will have surgery tomorrow, 1 Feb 2017. The cancer is Stage 2 and the Doctors are positive about a good prognosis. Due to certain parameters that the tumor meets, they will also remove the lymph nodes on the left side. They said the worst part of the surgery will be the reconstruction. (I can't begin to imagine.) She will be in UAB for 7-10 days after the surgery. They won't know about chemo or radiation until after the pathology report comes back on all of the tissue they remove. We've had many people asking what we need. Other than prayers, we just don't know at this point. I know God has this under His control.
