Hello Good Friends!

First, thanks to Jim, a short tail relative , who turned me on to this non-profit website as a way to communicate.  Six years ago Jim was diagnosed with esophageal cancer which I now also have.  I am starting the journey he has completed.

In March I experienced a huge drop in energy and had trouble swallowing.  All the blood tests showed nothing wrong but low vitamin D. ( Who isn't now that we are not allowed in the sun anymore.) So it was concluded that I was depressed and needed grief counseling.  I took the meds, saw a very nice psychologist , but  never felt any different.

After the endoscopy it was clear that the issue was physical not mental.  I was never depressed.

City of Hope has a full service unit located in Pasadena about fifteen minutes from the house.  Friend Katie, is driving Miss Daisy.  The first week  of the six  weeks of treatments was completed on this last Friday August 11, 2017.  It consist of one day of chemo and 5 days of radiation.  All is well so far, no side affects, just very tired.

The people of City of Hope are very nice pros to work with.  When asked about being able to work, the radiation people said " sure", the chemo people said " not a good idea with chemo brain" and Raymond James said " absolutely not" the legal  liabilities are to great.

So this is a place about how we are all doing in our personal lives without business talk.

At least I'm not depressed!

Love to you all,

Susan
