Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. In September of 2003 Susan had a major cardiac event. Doctors were not sure she would even survive the night. She did! She worked hard to get better to attend her oldest daughter’s wedding in Wisconsin within a month (even though the doctors said she wouldn’t be well enough-moral of the story don’t tell Susan what she can or can’t do, only she makes that choice). And even though she was a level 4 cardiac rehab patient she and Jim adopted their great niece Brianna. After the 2003 cardiac event she lived with a heart that didn’t pump efficiently. This past August an angiogram showed her ejection fraction was at 20%. She had minor surgery to place an internal defibrillator to restart her heart if she went into sudden cardiac arrest. During the last few months she has become more and more tired. Which brings us to her hospitalization last week for pneumonia and the decision for hospicecare.
