Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement.
As most of you know, last October 2019 I was struck by an acute, aggressive pneumonia/lung infection  which also revealed a severely damaged heart mitral-valve and tricuspid valve.  The pathogen for the lung infection was not identified at this time, although numbers of tests for bacterial, viral and fungal pathogens were performed.  After 9 days in the progressive cardiac ICU, I returned home to convalesce.    I did improve and gain strength, although when I became more mobile, I needed to have oxygen 24/7 .  My Cardiologist referred me to Duke Medical Center, North Carolina, for valve repair or replacement, with specialist Dr. Donald Glower.  Surgery was scheduled for Friday, January 31, 2020.
