Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

The above picture was taken on Saturday, May 9, 2020.  Susan was excited to go shopping for new patio chairs for the apartment they had moved into on February 1, 2020.  They were fortunate to sell their house of 53 years in just 5 days.  I noticed that Saturday that she had lost a significant amount of weight and she had a raspy voice.  She had had an appointment with an ear, nose and throat specialist in March but it had been cancelled due to the covid 19 virus.  I persuaded her to reschedule the appointment.  On Wednesday, May 13, an ENT specialist did a scope of her throat and found a mass pushing on her vocal cords.  Friday, the 15th, she had a throat CT as well as a chest X-ray ordered by her family practitioner.  He confirmed there was a mass pushing her airway sideways as well as masses in her right lung and breast bone.  On Monday, the 18th,  she went in for a lung CT and on Wednesday, the 20th she had 2 biopsies taken.  Those results confirmed that cancer had metastasized to her lung, breast bone and throat (near her thyroid).  Next week Wednesday she’ll have a pet scan and on Thursday her case will be reviewed by a team of oncologists.  We will have her initial meeting with the oncologist on Monday, June1.

Please continue to pray for comfort as she’s in a lot of
pain from the bone cancer.  She’s not able to lay down in bed and has been resting on the loveseat in their living room.  She’s also not eating much as she has no appetite which only makes her weaker.

I’ve been here since Sunday night when she asked
me to come.  We all know Susan would never ask for help so that shows how sick she really is.  She hasn’t touched a piece of fabric or yarn all week.  Wow!
