Andrew Marciniak and Megan Quinn Support Megan and Andrew

First post: Nov 20, 2019 Latest post: May 30, 2022
On Saturday, November 9 while living and working in Bucaramanga, Colombia, Andrew went into cardiac arrest, likely due to anaphylactic shock. Due to the lack of oxygen to his brain, he experienced multiple seizures, which resulted in significant and permanent brain damage. Andrew is on a ventilator and has not regained consciousness. He is unable to breathe on his own, and will most likely never wake up to be the Andrew we know and love.

Colombia law prohibits the removal of a ventilator from patients who are not considered terminally ill. As a result, Megan is unable to carry out Andrew’s previously expressed wishes to end care. It is unclear how long Andrew will live in this state. Megan has been told it could be months or possibly even years. Megan, with Andrew’s mother, Peg, are committed to staying by Andrew’s side however long it may be.

When Megan and Andrew married 10 years ago this fall, they asked themselves, “What if we lived a life in which we did exactly what we wanted?” That life included loving each other intensely, traveling the world, advocating for those in need, teaching children of all abilities and backgrounds, and being dedicated friends and family members. Their love has given the world so much. Please use this Caring Bridge account to stay updated on their status, aware of their needs, and to show your support. There are no better people in the world than Megan Quinn and Andrew Marciniak. Let’s take good care of them.
